EMI Credentials

Recognition of candidates for the ministry shall be granted to those who give evidence of having received a call for service and of living a life empowered by the Holy Ghost according to Acts 1:8, without discrimination to race, color, age or national origin. They shall receive ministerial recognition according to the following ranks of credentialed ministries.

EMI Recognizes four ranks of credentialed ministries:

(1) Exhorter Minister
(2) Licensed Minister
(3) Ordained Minister
(4) Reverend Minister


Exhorter Minister


Those individual making application for exhorter ministerial recognition shall be active in ministry within an approved capacity and active in an approved educational program for ministry preparation. Application educational requirement shall be a minimum of 22 credit hours completed.

Exhorter Minister is authorized to preach, serve as evangelist, and defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ and perform any other such ministerial duties as authorized by the International Executive Council of the Ebenezer Mission International (EMI).


Licensed Minister


Those individual making application for licensed ministerial recognition shall be active in ministry within an approved capacity and active in or have completed an approved educational program for ministry preparation. Application educational requirement shall be a minimum of 45 credit hours completed.

Licensed Minister is authorized to preach, serve as evangelist, serve as pastor, and defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ and perform any other such ministerial duties as authorized by the International Executive Council of the Ebenezer Mission International (EMI).


Ordained Minister


Those individual making application for ordained ministerial recognition shall be active in ministry within an approved capacity and active in or have completed an approved educational program for ministry preparation. Application educational requirement shall be a minimum of 90 credit hours completed.

Ordained Minister is authorized to preach, teach, counseling, publish, and defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ and perform any other such ministerial duties of a regional/state as authorized by the International Executive Council of the Ebenezer Mission International (EMI).


Reverend Minister


Those individual making application for reverend ministerial recognition shall be active in ministry within an approved capacity and active in or have completed an approved educational program for ministry preparation. Application educational requirement shall be a minimum of 120 credit hours completed.

Reverend Minister is authorized to preach, teach, counseling, officiate, publish, and defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ and perform any other such ministerial duties of a state/country as authorized by the International Executive Council of the Ebenezer Mission International (EMI).


Identity Document (ID card)


An Identity Document (ID card) issued to each EMI ministerial candidate along with their ministerial recognition certificate. An ID card giving identifying data about a person, as full name, address, age, credential status, membership, photograph for use as identification.


Marriage, Baptism, and similar certificates


Anyone seeking certificate for Baptism, Marriage, and similar certificate is requested to complete a certificate request form and provide I.D. if necessary. Forms are available at the Central Office of the EMI.


Ministerial Recognition


All candidates for Exhorter Ministerial Recognition, Licensed Ministerial Recognition, Ordained Ministerial Recognition, and Reverend Ministerial Recognition shall be required voluntarily to cooperate fully with any plan for study, counsel or ministry which the Credentials Committee and/or International Executive Council shall deem wise to recommend for the improvement of the ministry. This provision shall apply, as well to all who hold such credentials.

All the new candidates shall obtain proper recommendations from ordained ministers of the ministry in the respective area in which they minister. All the new candidates shall appear before the Credentials Committee or designate acting on the Committee’s behalf. They shall be prepared for examination on the Statement of Fundamental Truths approved by the International Executive Council. Application forms for ministerial recognition shall be obtained from the central office of the EMI. Such forms shall be properly filled out and forwarded to the General Secretary prior to the meeting of the Credentials Committee.
